Hahnemühle’s Natural Line uses raw materials that need minimal maintenance and no pesticides. Bamboo, hemp and agave, each at 290 gsm, each with a surface of its own. Good for digital fine art, paint reproduction, prints and photographs.
The range won the TIPA World Award in 2020 for Best Inkjet Photo Paper, and Hahnemühle runs the Green Rooster initiative, which funds reforestation, animal protection and environmental education.
Agave

Made with 70% sisal fiber from the agave plant, with a bright white natural tone and no optical brighteners. The surface is rough but finely defined, which gives a print real depth, and it has a soft feel in the hand.
The matte premium inkjet coating holds color and detail well, with deep blacks and clean contrast. Acid and lignin free, so it ages the way archival paper should.

Bamboo

The first fine art inkjet paper made from 90% bamboo fiber. Natural white and warm toned, with no optical brighteners, and a soft lightly textured felt structure.
The matte coating suits warm hues and monochrome work particularly well. Acid and lignin free, and rated for the same age resistance as the rest of the line.

Hemp
Hahnemühle Natural Line
Recommended for: Graphite and ink work
Made from 60% hemp fiber, one of the oldest materials in papermaking. The fibers are naturally bright white, so no optical brighteners are needed, and the lightly textured surface has a silky feel.
Colors and detail come through cleanly, the blacks are genuinely deep, and the contrast holds. Hemp was used for the Gutenberg Bible and the US Declaration of Independence, which tells you most of what you need to know about how it lasts.
